FAQ - CIVIL CELEBRANT PERTH
DO YOU TAKE CARE OF THE DOCUMENTS WE NEED FOR OUR CEREMONY?
Yes, and no. The only ceremonies I perform that require legal paperwork are marriages and funerals.
For marriages, I organise all the legal documentation required. I ensure you complete the documents correctly and I submit them to the relevant authorities.
For funeral services, the funeral director manages any paperwork required. My role is to liaise with the funeral director and help you create a beautiful service to farewell your loved one.
Is our ceremony legal?
Yes. I’m a registered marriage celebrant, which means I have the qualifications and certification to legally marry you and your partner.
If you’re planning a funeral service, your funeral director manages the legal paperwork.
Special celebrations and rituals don’t require any legal documents as they are not legally binding ceremonies.
What sorts of stories do you need for our ceremony?
Your stories are what makes your ceremony unique. It’s up to you whether you want to share brief anecdotes or longer stories. I’ll weave them into your ceremony so your guests can enjoy the special story or stories that have brought you all together – whatever the occasion.
What types of ceremonies do you preside over?
I perform ceremonies such as weddings, vow renewals, funerals and memorial services.
I also preside over special celebrations or rituals such as naming ceremonies or milestone birthdays. Just ask me about any special ceremony you’d like, and we’ll create it.
Are you only available for ceremonies in Perth?
Although I’m a Perth-based celebrant, I’m happy to travel to your location of choice for your ceremony. We’ll discuss this at our first contact.
How much do you charge?
As every ceremony is different, I like to quote on an individual basis. We’ll have a chat about what you’d like for your ceremony. Then I’ll give you an itemised quote, so you understand everything that’s included in your fee.
Are there any ceremonies you don’t do?
I’m open-minded, adventurous and flexible, so I love the opportunity to hold a fun or themed ceremony.
If I’m not comfortable with some aspect of your ceremony, I’ll let you know immediately. Fortunately, I know lots of celebrants and will refer you to one of them to fulfil your wishes.
What qualifies you as a civil celebrant?
I’m a qualified, authorised celebrant. I have completed a Certificate IV in Celebrancy and passed the relevant exams and rigorous vetting required by law to become a civil celebrant. All of this means I am recognised as someone who can legally perform marriages in Australia.
What will you wear to our ceremony?
All decisions relating to your ceremony are made in consultation with you. I dress elegantly and appropriately for all the ceremonies I perform, based on your requirements.
If you’re having a theme for your ceremony, I’m happy to join in and my outfit will suit your theme. Just let me know your plans when you first contact me.
What happens if you’re unwell on the day of our ceremony?
I won’t let you down – I haven’t missed a date yet! However, if I’m too ill to perform your ceremony, I will let you know as early as possible.
I have a network of celebrants I can call on to step in for me in an emergency. I truly believe in the adage, ‘the show must go on’ and will do everything possible to make sure your day goes ahead as you planned it.
If you have specific questions about your ceremony, please get in touch for an obligation-free chat – I’d love to help.
